Bielsa’s Uruguay beat Cuba in FIFA friendly

Facundo Torres and Maximiliano Araujo scored in each half as Uruguay cruised to a 2-0 home win over Cuba in their FIFA friendly on Tuesday. Torres converted from the penalty spot after Dariel Morejon brought down Araujo just before the half hour. Araujo doubled the advantage in the 80th minute when he bundled home from close range after a scramble inside the six-yard box. The result at Estadio Centenario means Uruguay have won each of their first two matches under Argentine Marcelo Bielsa, who was appointed manager in May. The Celeste, who routed Nicaragua 4-1 in the Uruguayan capital last week, will now turn their focus to the South American qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, the United States and Canada.
