Monsoon rain showers Dhaka, other parts of Bangladesh

Monsoon rain drenched Dhaka and other parts of Bangladesh for two consecutive days.

The ongoing sweltering heat started to come down in the evening on Saturday while a cold wind started blowing.
Then it started raining around 7:30pm in the capital. At first it was light rain but then it increased.

The weather office predicted that the weather will remain like Friday.

On the other hand, it is raining with stormy winds in different parts of the country like Dhaka.

Trough of low lies over West Bengal and adjoining western part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.

Light to moderate rain and thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions; at many places over Rajshshi, Rangpur & Dhaka divisions and at a few places over Khulna and Barisal divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions in next 24 hours starting from 6pm Saturday, according to met office release.

Meanwhile, the highest rainfall was recorded at 129mm in Sylhet in the last 24 hours.

Besides, 126mm in Sitakunda in Chittagong, 94mm in Sreemangal in Sylhet, 69mm in Kutubdia, 54mm in Rangamati, 47mm in Bandarban, 44mm in Nikli, 39mm in Mymensingh, 36mm in Dhaka, 29mm in Cox’s Bazar, 28mm in Comilla, 27mm in Feni, 20mm in Khepupara, 19mm in Tarash and Bogra, 18mm in Netrakona, 17mm in Tangail, 15mm of rain was recorded in Maijdee Court, 14mm in Chittagong, 11mm in Sandwip and Badalgachi, 5mm in Rajarhat of Kurigram, 3mm in Chuadanga, Teknaf and Ishwardi, 2mm in Chandpur and Rajshahi, 1mm in Rangpur.

Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi division and the districts of Tangail, Jessore, Kushtia and Chuadanga and it may abate from some places.
