Journalist Nadeem killed in planned manner: RAB

Journalist Gholam Rabbani Nadeem was killed in a planned way by Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu, who was enraged by reporting of the newsman about his various misdeeds, sex scandals.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of the Legal and Media Wing, gave this information in a press conference at RAB’s media center on Saturday evening around 7:00 p.m.
According to RAB officials, journalist Nadeem published several reports on UP Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu’s misdeeds and scandal on an online portal recently. After the publication of the report, mastermind Babu became enraged and threatened Nadeem in various ways and even filed a case against him under the Digital Security Act.

Later the Cyber Tribunal of Mymensingh dismissed the case. Nadeem gave a status on Facebook about the dismissal of the case. After that Babu got more angry and planned to teach Nadeem properly.
He said arrested Babu will be taken to Jamalpur and from there he will be handed over to Bakshiganj police station.
Asked why law enforcement agencies had failed to provide security to the journalist, even though he had sought help in this regard in a social media post a few days before his murder, the RAB director said he had received no such written request.

“We don’t know whether he made any complaints with the police station concerned. If he did, he would surely get legal help,” said Khandoker Al Moin.
Earlier, Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Mahmudul
Alam Babu, arrested from Debiganj of Panchagarh in connection with the murder of journalist Nadeem in Jamalpur’s Bakshiganj, was brought to RAB’s media center in Karavanbazar on Saturday evening.
Journalist Nadeem’s wife Monira Begum filed a murder case with the Bakshiganj police station, naming 22 people and 20-25 unnamed persons as the main accused.

Chairman Babu of Sadhurpara Union was the General Secretary of Awami League. Bakshiganj Upazila Awami League temporarily expelled him on Friday night in connection with the murder.
In the meantime, Fahim Faisal Rifat, son of the prime accused Mahmudul Alam Babu, has also been suspended from the post of joint convener of Bakshiganj upazila unit Chhatra League. Rifat is also an accused in the murder case.
Relatives and colleagues alleged that journalist Nadeem was killed on the orders of this chairman babu. The police also found this complaint true in the preliminary investigation.
