Fined for sand mining in Manikganj

In Manikganj’s Daulatpur, the Ballgate vessel was seized and fined cash for illegally extracting sand from the Jamuna River. Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Arnab Malakar conducted the mobile court.
On Tuesday, an operation was conducted to prevent illegal sand extraction in Jamuna river near Baghutia-Zianpur union of Daulatpur upazila.
At that time, the ballgate ships of two companies used for sand extraction and transportation were seized and a fine of Tk 1 lakh was collected according to the Sand and Soil Management Act, 2010.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Arnab Malakar said, extraction of sand from the river is illegal. Strict legal action will be taken against all involved in illegal extraction, sale and transportation of sand.
