United Lawyers Front (ULF) flagged off

A group of lawyers, who are supporters of different political parties except Awami League, has launched an organization under the banner of ‘United Lawyers Front (ULF)’ as a new platform for a large-scale nationwide movement in order to restore the rule of law, democracy, independence of the judiciary, right to vote, human rights and the dignity of the lawyers in the country.
The launch of the organization was announced through a press conference held at the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) building on Monday afternoon.
Advocate Zainul Abedin, former President of the SCBA, was made Convener of the new platform and Senior Advocate Subrata Chowdhury was made Joint Convener of it. Barrister Kayser Kamal will perform as the chief coordinator of the organization.
The 36-member body also included lawyers Mohammad Mohsin Rashid, A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan, Jaglul Haider Afric, Gias Uddin Ahmed, Garib-E-Newaz, Dr Fariduzzaman Farhad, Masud Ahmed Talukder, Bodruddoza Badol, Shah Ahmed Badal, Ruhul Quddus Kazal, Fahima Nasrin Munni, Syed Mamun Mahmub, Gazi Kamrul Islam Sajal, A B M Rafiqul Hauqe Talukder Raja, among others.
In the press conference, Advocate Zainul Abedin said, “Lawyers need a non-partisan platform to uphold the rule of law, democracy, human rights and to keep all bars, including the Supreme Court Bar Association, independent. It is for that purpose that the United Lawyers’ Front has been formed.”
