Bangladesh A Women’s team thrashed Malaysia A Women’s team by 97 runs in their Group-B match of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Women’s Emerging Teams Cup at Mong Kok in Hong Kong on Monday.
Electing to bat first, Bangladesh A piled up a satisfactory total of 148 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then, restricted Malaysia A to 51 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
Murshida Khatun and Shorna Akter of Bangladesh built a worthy partnership contributing together 36 runs in the fifth wicket stand before Shorna Akter was dismissed by Nur Dania Syuhada when Bangladesh’s total was 88 for the loss of eight wickets.
Murshida Khatun remained unbeaten with 57. She hit seven fours in her 44-ball innings. Murshida Khatun was adjudged the Player of the Match for her outstanding innings.
Shorna Akter made 20 from 14 balls featuring two fours and a sixer. Murshida Khatun and Rabeya Khan made the most valuable partnership adding together 57 runs for the unbroken seven-wicket stand.
Rabeya Khan remained unbeaten with 15 runs. She struck two fours and a sixer in her 14-ball knock.
Sobhana Mostary, Shathi Rani and Rubya Haider added 14, 11 and 10 runs to the Bangladesh total respectively.
Aisa Eleesa, Mahirah Izzati Ismail and Nur Dania Syuhada bagged two wickets each conceding 20,21 and 25 runs respectively. Later, batter of Malaysian Women failed to face Bangladesh bowling attack.
Ainna Hamizah Hashim, Mas Elysa and Christina Baret of Malaysia could reach the double digit figures scoring 13 (not out), 11 and 11 runs. Rabeya Khan bagged a pair of wickets at the cost of seven runs, while Sanjida Akter Meghla, Nahida Akter, Sultana Khatun and Marufa Akter took one wicket each for six, nine, 10 and 16 runs respectively.
