Misappropriation of Workers’ Fund Grameen Telecom Director Parvin gets bail

A Dhaka court yesterday granted bail to Grameen Telecom Director Parvin Mahmud in a case filed for misappropriating about Tk 25 crore of the company’s Workers’ Profit Participation Fund.

Judge Md Asaduzzaman of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court granted her bail till submission of probe report after she appeared in the court and sought bail in the case on Sunday.

On May 30, Anti-Corruption Commission Deputy Director Gulshan Anowar Prodhan filed the case with its Integrated District Office-1 in Dhaka against Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus, also the Chairman of Grameen Telecom and its 12 other top officials, including Parvin Mahmud.

According to the case documents, the Grameen Telecom Chairman and the Board Members in association with each other produced the fake agreement to misappropriate money and thus committed a crime under the Money Laundering Prevention Act.
