Hacker gang is active on the social media platforms like facebook across the country. The gang also pretends themselves as members of RAB officials. According to sources, the gang used to send tempting links like ‘jackpot of lakhs of taka’ and ‘million dollar lottery’ etc to the various people who have valid facebook ID and messengers. If someone clicked on them, that ID would be hacked. Later they pretended to be members of law enforcement like RAB official and took various sums of money in the name of recovering that ID.
On Sunday, police have arrested a hacker named Ashraful Pratya alias Lunatic Pratya on the charge of hacking Facebook ID and impersonating RAB officials. Mirpur Model Police Station arrested him from Savar bus station area near Dhaka.
According to police, arrested Pratya is a student of Savar Model College. His actual name is Ashraful Pratya but he is known online as Lunatic Pratya. Although he describes himself as a gamer, he is basically a hacker.
Mohammad Mohsin Miah, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirpur Model Police Station confirmed the matter to The New Nation on Sunday evening that the accused Ashraful Pratya used to play different online games on the different social media platforms since long time. After the arrest, he primarily admitted that he involved with the gang through online games. He mainly gets the supports from another person who lives in Malaysian.
OC said the accused Pratya sends tempting links on people’s messengers like ‘Lakh Taka Jackpot’, ‘Million Dollar Lottery’, ‘200 Dollars per day by advertising on Facebook’ and ‘Earn money by playing games’.
If someone greedily clicks on them, that Facebook ID gets hacked.
Later he called the victim in the guise of RAB official to retrieve that lost ID. He grabbed various sums of money in the name of GD and service charges along with other fees for recovering the ID.
The OC also said that in the same manner, he also sent such a link to the messenger of a student named Faiyaz Rahman. As soon as he clicks on that link, his Facebook ID gets hacked. Later, the fake RAB official Pratya called him to retrieve the ID.
He demanded Taka 13,500 from Faiyaz to retrieve the ID. He also threatened to get involved in the case if he did not pay the money. Later, when Faiyaz complained against Pratya, he was arrested from Savar’s bus station area on Sunday, OC added.
