Bhuttu, successful sugarcane farmer in Adamdighi

Farmer Azizar Rahman Bhuttu has succeeded in cultivating Gandari variety of sugarcane (Kushar) on only one and a half bigha of land after using his experience of working in Maloshia for 16 years in agricultural products farm.
Farmer Azizar Rahman Bhuttur’s house is in Tiloch Kandaripara village of Kundagram union of Adamdighi upazila of Bogra district. Sugarcane is a very important cash crop used in food and industry of the country. Keeping this thought in mind, he cultivated sugarcane in his one and a half bigha land next to his house.
After returning home from Maloshia in 2018, he first started papaya and banana cultivation by taking a lease from Ad. Tabibar Rahman for one lakh taka across a large pond called Marhumgari near the village. He earned about 6 lakh taka by cultivating papaya and banana for about three years.
Then farmer Azizar Rahman Bhuttu thought that he would cultivate sugarcane (kushar). To put his ideas into practice, farmer Azizar Rahman Bhuttu collected parts of sugarcane heads (seedlings) from those who sold sugarcane (kushar) at Kundagram Hat, Champapur Hat, Nasratpur Hat, Kadai Hat, Shibbati Hat in June last year and planted them next to his house in June last year. Planted the saplings of sugarcane heads in one and a half bigha land.
The planted seedlings were turned into full-fledged sugarcane (kusher) in about a year due to proper care including watering, use of drugs. The sugar cane in his field is as fat as it looks. And after a month the sugarcane of his field can be sold.
Farmer Azizar Rahman Bhuttu said that he planted sugarcane seedlings a year ago on one and a half bigha land. About one and a half lakh taka has been spent on soil reformation, irrigation water, medicines in his field. He expressed hope that if he sells the amount of Gandari variety of sugarcane (Kushar) that is currently grown in his field, he will sell about 10 lakhs. The success of his sugarcane cultivation has created a great response in the area.
