Meet to improve service held

An experience exchange meeting on increasing the participation of women in the committees of local service providers and improving the quality of services was held at the Rangpur Police Community Center on Monday afternoon. Rangpur Zilla Parishad Chairman Bir Muktijoddha Md. Mosaddek Hossain Bablu spoke among others, District Livestock Officer Agriculture Dr. Md. Sirajul Haque, Assistant District Primary Education Officer, Md. Mominul Islam. Social Services Supervisor Altab Hossain Sarkar, Gangachra Upazila Vice Chairman Rabia. Begum, District Coordinator of Democracy Was Arfina Akhtar, Coordinator of Advocacy Network Julia Akhtar Chowdhury, Aparajita Runa Laila etc. The speakers said that strengthening the democratic process of local government requires joint efforts of men and women at all levels of local government institutions. But in reality, there is a lot of disparity between elected male and female representatives in our local government institutions. And because of this discrimination, democracy is not developing properly. The awareness of men and women is necessary as well as the development of leadership and capacity building in our women’s society to eliminate inequality .
