‘Clean Dhaka’ is people’s expectation, says Raushan Ershad

Chief Patron of Jatiya Party (JaPa) and Opposition Leader in Jatiya Sangsad Begum Raushan Ershad on Tuesday said in a statement that Dhaka has been identified several times as the most polluted city in the world.

This time also an international organization research survey said the same thing, which is shameful and sad for the nation.
“Dhaka has been a witness of our four hundred years of history and tradition as a mega city. But today our beloved Dhaka is neglected because of pollution,” she said.
Raushan Ershad said that overpopulation, garbage heaps, endless traffic jams, old dilapidated transport, lagunas and autorickshaws plying in roads of Dhaka violating all kinds of traffic rules and there is no space left for pedestrians to walk on the footpaths.

“The footpaths are occupied by petty vendors. Electric wires are spread like a spider’s web in old Dhaka. Throughout the year, garbage and waterlogging make the city lives miserable when it rain occurs,” she added.

She also said that three main sources of air pollution in Dhaka are illegal brick kilns, vehicular smoke and construction site dust and other factors which are polluting Dhaka’s air.
