OIC seeks permanent solution to Rohingya crisis

The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hussein Ibrahim, has stated that the OIC has always prioritised the Rohingya issue and expressed the desire for a permanent solution to the Rohingya problem.
He also emphasised the need for a dignified and sustainable repatriation of Rohingya refugees in Rakhine. The OIC continues its unwavering efforts in this regard.
During a visit to the Ukhiya Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar on Monday, a delegation of Rohingya community exchanged views with Secretary-General Ibrahim on the repatriation issues.
Furthermore, the OIC Secretary-General mentioned that the Gambian government has filed a case against the military junta in Myanmar for Rohingya genocide at the International Court of Justice. The OIC is actively engaged in the process of the case’s proceedings.

At this time, the Rohingya delegation members presented their demands to the OIC Secretary-General, including recognition of their nationality, citizenship, security, and the return of victims of genocide, among other claims.

Earlier in the morning, the Secretary-General visited the Ukhiya Rohingya camp with a five-member delegation. They were welcomed by officials from Cox’s Bazar district administration, UNHCR representatives, and officials from the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC).
RRRC Commissioner Md Mizanur Rahman informed that at around 10 am, the OIC Secretary-General visited the Brac center in

the extended Rohingya camp. He held discussions with a delegation of Rohingya youths on their educational activities and daily livelihood. Later, he visited a center managed by IOM (International Organisation for Migration) within the camp and observed tree plantation activities.
The OIC delegation also visited a learning center and a handicraft exhibition center established by the Rohingya community in camp number five in the afternoon. The RRRC mentioned that they have a plan to return to Dhaka in the evening.
