Visually impaired Shaheen struggles for life

Shahinur Rahman Shaheen, a visually impaired person of Bogra’s Adamdighi, has been struggling in life by selling perfume, surma, and hats on the streets, markets and markets for two centuries. Shaheen’s family is going through
a lot of trouble. Handicapped Shaheen was born in the house of Azimuddin Pramanik, a poor father of Shibpur village in Adamdighi Upazila Sadar. This 42-year-old disabled Shaheen has studied up to the health department of Qawmi Madrasa with the help of the rich people of the society. Since birth, Shaheen had blurred vision. As Shaheen grows up gradually, the eye problem increases. Now he can hardly see. He cannot walk without the help of others to cross the road or perform his personal needs. Shaheen is the eldest among five brothers and sisters. Shaheen got married about 17 years ago and started a family. Then a son was born in Shaheen’s family. But what is the irony of fate, his first son Shihab is also physically and mentally disabled from birth. Shaheen’s first son Shihab died at the age of 9. Presently, disabled Shaheen has his wife Rina Begum, son Sanjit (11), Sazaib Hasan (7) and daughter Fatema (5) in his house. Shaheen earns his living by selling atar, surma and hats in various places including Adamdighi Upazila Sadar, Nasratpur, Sawil, Muril Hat. Shaheen said, I am visually impaired since birth. I buy atar, surma and hats wholesale from Naogaon city and sell them in bazaar.
One hundred and fifty to two hundred rupees are earned daily by selling surma, attar, hats.
The family does not run properly with this money. Shaheen receives some money through the government’s disability card. Despite being disabled, without begging or reaching out to people, these five members have to run their family by selling atar, surma, and hats in the bazaar through hard work. Handicapped Shaheen also said that with his small income, he can’t buy good things including new clothes for his wife and children. The bag in which Shaheen sells perfume, surma, hat is also very old and torn.
