204 gold bars worth Tk 25 crore seized

Preventive team of Dhaka Customs House has seized 204 gold bars from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) of the capital. The estimated market value of the seized gold is around Tk 25 crore.

Dhaka Customs House Deputy Commissioner (Preventive) Mokaddis Hossain confirmed the matter on Thursday afternoon.

According to customs sources, Bangladesh Biman flight BG 122 from Muscat via Chittagong landed at HSIA at 11:25am. After that, the customs officers surrounded the entire plane on the airport runway on the orders of the Commissioner of Dhaka Custom House. Then 204 gold bars were seized abandoned from the cargo hole of the aircraft. The weight of the seized gold bar is about 23 kg 600 grams.
