Meet on women’s political empowerment held

A exchange meeting of political party leaders was held in Rangpur on women’s political empowerment. Bangladesh Awami League central committee member Ed Hossain Ara Lutfa Dalia presided over the meeting organized by Democracy Watch with the support of Aparajita Project Switzerland at the police community hall of the city on Thursday. Awami League leader Ed Anwarul Islam, ,jakir hosan,BNP leader Ed Rezeka Sultana Fensi in the workshop moderated by district agenda coordinator Aparajita Arfina Akhtar. Party Haji Abdur Razzak, Badas leader Mominul Islam, Jasad leader Gautam Kumar etc. spoke. Meanwhile, local leaders of Rangpur Mithapukur, Gangachara Sadar Upazila Aparajita and other parties participated in the free discussion meeting.
School teacher killed falling from tree

A retired Govt. Primary School teacher named Md. Kuddus Molla (62) of village Dakkhin Rajapur under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district met his tragic end when he fell from a mango tree on Monday, according to a report received here.Abdul Awal Molla, elder brother of the ill-fated school teacher told, on Monday at noon my brother climbed a mango tree, situated in the courtyard of his residence in order to pluck mangoes. But at one stage he, some how, slipped and fell down from the tree and died on the spotMd. Ikram Hossain. Oficer-in-charge of Sharankhola PS told, being informed of the matter I visited the place of occurrence. But no complaint was lodged with me by the members of the family.
May Moment celebration held at Muktagacha

The May Moment celebration was held at Muktagacha in Mymensingh with the participation of various religious representatives with the slogan “Spread the voice of youth to prevent child marriage”.
Non-governmental organization World Vision Bangladesh organized the programme at Nandibari Zilla Parishad Auditorium on Thursday. UNO AKM Lutfar Rahman presided over the function as chief guest in the upazila parishad chairman Bir Muktijoddha Abdul Hai Akand. Among the special guests and others, Muktagacha police officer in charge Md. Abdul Majeed, World Vision Senior Area Manager Sebastian Purification, Muktagachha Press Club General Secretary M. Idrich Ali, Upazila Women Affairs Officer Hasina Zaman, World Vision TP Manager Dr. Jayant Kumar Nath, Senior Field Officer of Islamic Foundation. Shahjahan Siraj, Upazila Model Caretaker of Islamic Foundation. Sakhawat Hossain, Area Program Manager of World Vision EP Nrta Howi, Program Officer Rakibul Islam and others spoke. Imams of Islamic mosques, heads of madrasas, Qazis, Tagores of Hinduism, priests and Christian religious representatives were present in the ceremony. In addition to discussing the evils of child marriage, methods of prevention and other issues, all those present expressed their commitment to work to prevent child marriage in one sentence.
