Senior journalist Azhar Mahmood dies

Former general secretary of Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB), permanent member of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) and editor-in-chief of online newspaper CampusLive Azhar Mahmood died yesterday afternoon.
He died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital around 4 pm on Sunday. He was 53.
Azhar Mahmood was suffering from liver cirrhosis. Graduated in social science from Dhaka University, he worked in various media including Manav zamin, BTV, Baisakhi Television and Voice of America.
His first Namaz-e-Janaza was held at Shaheen Bagh in the capital after Maghrib prayers yeaterdsay. His second Janaza was held in front of Dhaka Reporters Unity after Esha prayers.
The deceased left behind his wife, one son and a host relatives and friends to mourn his death.
Meanwhile, the CRAB executive committee and the CRAB family have issued a condolence message on his death. Executive Committee leaders including CRAB President Mirza Mehdi Tamal and General Secretary Mamunur Rashid expressed grief over the death of Azhar Mahmud and expressed their deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
