Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to facilitate visa-free entry for diplomatic passport holders to enhance communication between the two countries.
Following a meeting with the Ministers of Japan and Australia at a hotel in the capital on Saturday, State Minister for Foregn Affairs Md Shahriar Alam conveyed this information to the journalists.
Regarding the discussion with Assistant Minister Saif Mubarak Al-Hajeri, who is responsible for economy and commerce in the United Arab Emirates, the State Minister stated that they have agreed to facilitate visa-free entry for diplomatic passport holders to enhance communication with the UAE.
Additionally, they have also agreed to cooperate in the areas of food safety, food preservation and food supply in the coming days.
Furthermore, the State Minister mentioned that apart from supporting Bangladesh in high-yielding crop cultivation, there have been discussions on cooperation with several countries, particularly with Australia.
About the discussion with the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia, Shahriar Alam stated that a Bangladeshi student has been killed in Australia. He emphasized the need for justice in this incident, and therefore, we have expressed our call for it.
Quoting the meeting with the Vice Minister of Japan, the State Minister further stated that there have been talks to increase trade with Japan.
Discussions have been held on how to provide further assistance to Japanese businessmen, and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) is ready to offer them all the necessary support.
If needed, we will handle the cases on a case-by-case basis, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also prepared, he added.
Regarding the Indian Ocean Conference, the State Minister mentioned that all foreign countries have praised Bangladesh’s progress. They have congratulated Bangladesh’s efforts in establishing peace in the region.
