Three arrested in Cumilla Jubo League leader murder

The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested three people so far in connection with the murder of Jubo League leader Jamal Hossain in Cumilla.
The accused persons have been identified as Ismail Hossain, son of one Khursid Mia, Sohel Sikder, son of one Aktar Hossain Sikdar, and Md Shah Alam, son of one late Bazlul Rahman. They were arrested from Chattogram and Dhaka. Another accused is in police custody.
There are nine cases including three murders against arrested Awami League leader Sohel Shikder, three cases including two murders against Ismail Hossain and 10 cases including one murder against Shah Alam.
Lieutenant Colonel Tanveer Mohammad Pasha, the company commander of RAB-11 CPC-1, confirmed the information at a press conference on Sunday (May 7).
According to the law enforcement, three miscreants wearing veil (burqa) took part in the shooting to death of the Jubo League leader in Gouripur West Bazaar of Daudkandi Upazila of Comilla. They shot Jubo League leader Jamal Hussain three times in a row around 8.30pm and escaped.
Police officers involved in the investigation said this by citing the CCTV footage of the scene and eyewitnesses.
Earlier, the deceased’s wife Popi Akhter filed a case against 17 persons at Daudkandi police station on Tuesday (May 2) midnight in connection with the murder.
On the night of April 30, Jamal Hossain, joint convener of Titas upazila Jubo League, was shot to death by three miscreants at Gouripur market of Daudkandi in Cumilla.
