Science Museum DG urges doctors’ prescriptions to include scientific dietary advice

Staff Reporter :
Director General (DG) of National Science Museum Muhammad Munir Chowdhury said that, Physicians’ should mention the benefits of small fish, olive oil, black cumin, pomegranate etc in their prescriptions along with the medicine.

Apart from it, physicians can also play a major role in promoting scientific food habits to reduce drug dependency and make people more health conscious, he added.
“Great Prophet (sm) revealed 1500 years ago about the multiple benefits of black cumin which is scientifically recognized today. According to a recent survey by the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, small fish increases the IQ of children, which is highly enriched with fatty acids and micronutrients. If the doctors prescribe that children should take Mala, Dhela, Kachki and Puti fish in Bangladesh, it will have a far-reaching impact on public health,” Muhammad Munir Chowdhury said this in a seminar titled “Scientific Food Habit: Doctor’s Role” that organized for BCS doctors as part of training under Institute of Child and Maternal Health in the city on Sunday.
