The logo unveiling ceremony of the Third Bangabandhu IHF Trophy Women’s (youth and junior) was held on Saturday through a formal ceremony at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the city.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russel formally unveiled the logo as the chief guest.
Former Senior Secretary of Home Ministry Aminul Islam Khan, former Senior Secretary of Ministry of Commerce Dr Md. Jafar Uddin, Bangladesh Handball Federation’s (BHF’s) President Nurul Fazal Bulbul, its general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, Bangladesh Olympic Association’s (BOA’s) Deputy Secretary General and Bangladesh Volleyball Federation’s General Secretary Ashikuzzaman Miku, BOA’s Treasurer and Bangladesh Basketball Federation’s General Secretary AK Sarkar, Bangabandhu IHF Tournament Media Committee’s Chairman Sirajuddin Md. Alamgir and its member Md. Jahangir Hossain were present, among others, in the logo unveiling ceremony.
The Bangabandhu IHF Trophy Women’s (youth and junior) will be held from May 13-17 in Dhaka with the participation of four countries.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, the State Minister thanked the organisers for dedicating the tournament in the name of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He also hoped that the players would gain more prosperity through this tournament.
Bangladesh Handball Federation is going to organise the international meet after a prolong seven years.
The BHF have already completed almost all the preparation to make the tournament a success.
Two teams– U-17 and U-19– of four countries– India, Nepal, the Maldives and host Bangladesh– will compete in the meet.
Three IHF delegates will arrive on May 11 ahead of the tournament while eight referees will also arrive on May 12 to conduct the tournament.
India, Nepal and the Maldives, the participating teams of the tournament, are expected to arrive in Dhaka on May 12.
The Bangladesh U-17 and U-19 teams have been undergoing intensive training from the last 20 days to achieve a good result in the tournament.
