Dhaka Abahani retain supremacy in DPL

Dhaka Abahani Limited retained their supremacy in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) defeating Prime Bank Cricket Club by 42 runs in their Super League match at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Thursday.
Dhaka Abahani Limited gained 24 points from 13 matches, while Prime Bank Cricket Club earned 16 points from as many outings.
A superb century by Afif Hossain guided Dhaka Abahani Limited to make a massive 285 runs for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
Afif Hossain remained unbeaten with 111. he hit five sixes and six fours in his 101-ball innings. Afif Hossain was adjudged the Man of the Match for his match-winning knock.
Mosaddek Hossain played a captain’s knock of 67. His 76-ball innings was belted with four sixes and four fours.
Kashif Bhatti and Mahedi Hasan bagged two wickets each conceding 39 and 62 runs respectively.
Later, Prime Bank Cricket Club scored 243 off 45.4 overs.
Prantik Nawrose, Zakir Hasan and Alok Kapali restored some parity for their team scoring 57, 51 and 40 (not out) runs respectively.
Khushdil Shah of Dhaka Abahani Limited bowled extremely well. He grabbed six wickets instead of 49 runs.
In the day’s other Super League match, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited beat Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited by 85 runs (according to Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method) at BKSP Ground-3 in Savar.
After yesterday’s outcome, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited collected 22 points from 13 matches, while Mohammedan bagged 13 points from as many outings.
Sent into bat first, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited piled up a satisfactory total of 259 for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 47 overs (three overs were curtailed due to rain) and then set a revised target of 277 runs in 47 overs for Mohammedan Sporting Club to win. Mohammedan were all out for 191off 40.5 overs.

First-down Fazle Mahmud and second-down Nurul Hasan built the most worthy partnership scoring together 155 runs for the third wicket partnership before Nurul Hasan was dismissed by Soumya Sarkar when Shaikh Jamal’s score was 251 for the loss of three wickets.
Fazle Mahmud remained unbeaten with 93 runs. He hit five sixes and six fours in his 86-ball knock. Mahmud was adjudged the Man of the Match for his superb innings.
Nurul Hasan struck 70 from 60 deliveries including four sixes and three fours.
Kamindu Mendis was his team’s most successful bowler with two wickets in the space of 45 runs.
Later, Mahmudullah Riyad, Imrul Kayes and Ariful Haque fought back making 40, 33 and 32 runs respectively.
Tabiur Rahman of Sheikh Jamal captured four wickets in the space of 24 runs, while Arif Ahmed claimed three wickets at the cost of 35 runs and Parvez Rasool bagged two wickets for 25 runs.
