Accused Kawsar arrested over schoolgirl murder in Netrakona

Police have arrested the accused killer Kawsar in connection with the murder of a school girl in broad daylight in Netrakona.
He was arrested from a forest in Premnagar Salipura area of the upazila around 3 o’clock on Wednesday.
Netrakona Police Superintendent Faiz Ahmed confirmed the matter to the media and said, “We were able to arrest the accused Kawshar within 24 hours of the incident.
Kawsar was absconding in a forest near a paddy field about half a kilometer from the spot. District detective police finally arrested him.
Meanwhile, in response to the questions of the journalists, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Mohammad Harun Or Rashid said, in the initial interrogation, accused Kawsar said that the girl was being followed by the evil-doer Kawshar
since she was studying in the sixth grade.
He proposes love to the girl several times and he was rejected. Because of this anger, he hacked the girl to death. Mentionable that last Saturday, he bought a knife for taka 200 from Gopalpur market in Barhatta Sadar.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Mohammad Haron Or Rashid gave this information in a press conference at the office of the District Superintendent of Police at around five o’clock on Wednesday.
Apart from this, a human chain was organized at Barhatta Railway Station Road at noon by the initiative of Nari Pragati Sanghtha.
The accused scoundrel Kawsar is the son of one Shamsu Mia of Premnagar village of the upazila.
Deceased Mukta Rani Burman (16) was the daughter of Nikhil Burman of Chalipura village of Bausi union of Barhatta upazila. She was a 10th class student of Premnagar Chalipura High School.
It is known that while returning home from school with his girlfriends on Tuesday afternoon, the scoundrel Kawsar blocked the way and offered the girl there to eat mango. The student refused the offer and started walking. Hence, suddenly, Kawsar threw the mangoes into the river and hacked Mukta mercilessly with a sharp knife.
Kawsar ran away when people come forward hearing the screams of her girlfriends. Mukta’s condition worsened when she was taken to Barhatta Hospital and she died on the way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, Mukta’s murder has cast a shadow of mourning on the area. Surjeet Bhowmik, head of Barhatta Nari Pragati Sangh, said that Mukta used to work with them to stop child marriages and stop evictions.
Barhatta Police Station OC Khokon Kumar Saha said the body has been sent to Netrakona Modern Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The family is preparing the case.
