Man gets life-term for raping girl in Shariatpur

BSS, Shariatpur :

A court here Tuesday sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment for abducting and raping a girl in Bhedarganj upazila of the district in 2021.
Judge of district Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Shapon Kumar Sarker handed down the verdict to Abul Sarder, 32, hailed from Gaurnadi upazila in Barisal district.
According to the prosecution story, in brief, convict Abul Sarder abducted a girl and raped her with the help of his cohorts on September 6 in 2021.
Following the incident, victim’s father filed a case accusing five people. Later, police pressed the charge-sheet accusing Abul Sarder.
Testifying witnesses and evidences the court found him guilty and handed down the verdict, said Public Prosecutor Advocate Firoj Ahmed.
