We shall miss Towhid Hridoy : Sohel Islam

Coach of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited Sohel Islam said, ” Towhid Hridoy, Ebadot Chowdhury, Mrittunjoy Chowdhury, Towhid Hridoy will not perform in the Super League of Dhaka Premier League. They will leave for United Kingdom (UK) with Bangladesh ODI Cricket team on May 1 to play three ODI matches against Ireland at the Cloud County Ground in Chelmsford of UK. We shall feel their absence. Specially, we shall miss Towhid Hridoy.”
Earlier, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited emerged the champions of the Dhaka Premier League 2021-2022. They showed a competitive cricket to became champions last year after crossing Dhaka Abahani Limited, Legends of Rupganj and Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited.
This year Dhaka Abahani Limited and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited collected 20 points each from their respective 11 matches single league of DPL. By virtue of better run rate Abahani have taken the top spot.
The team between Dhaka Abahani Limited and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited have an advantage to become champions if they win all the matches of Super League of DPL.
Legends of Rupganj (four points behind from Sheikh Jamal, Abahani), Prime Bank Cricket Club (six points behind from Sheikh Jamal, Abahani), Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited (seven points behind from Sheikh Jamal, Abahani), Gazi Group Cricketers (nine points behind from Sheikh Jamal, Abahani) have a few chance to clinch the title of DPL 2022-2023.
But Sohel Islam doesn’t think that Dhaka Abahani are not only rival of them.
He said, ” All the teams, who will play in the Super League are the title aspirants of DPL. There are no big team or no small team. So, I don’t under estimate any of them. I think all the matches of Super League are very crucial for us. I don’t take any team lightly. So, all the matches of Super League are important for us. If we want to be champions, we have no option to take any match of Super League lightly.”
He said, ” Towhid Hridoy, Ebadot Chowdhury, Mrittunjoy Chowdhury are our key players. Specially, Towhid Hridoy batted really well in middle order position. It will be tough task for us to fill up the absence of him. He hit a 72 off 77 balls against Dhaka Abahani and struck 98 (not out) off 118 balls against Prime Bank. Both the match-winning innings powered Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited to notch up victory.”
” However, we have to play without Hridoy, Ebadot, Mrittunjoy and those who will be replacement of them will show satisfactory performance in Super League. We need best performance from those replacement cricketers in the Super League.”
