Bus-three wheeler collision kills 5 in Chattogram

At least five people killed and another one injured when a passenger bus rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Chattogram on Thursday morning. The accident occurred on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Arakan highway at Raikhali bridge area in Boalkhali around at 9am.
Of the deceased, three were identified as Md Selim, (45), son of Jalal Ahmed of Mirpara in Boalkhali upazila, Anjana Akter, (35), wife of Md Adil of Jorarganj in Mirsarai upazila and Babul Dey, (60), son of Balaram Dey of Patia upazila. They were the passengers of the auto-rickshaw.
According to locals and police sources, the Patia-bound bus collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw, leaving four people dead on the spot and two others injured. Later, the two injured were taken to a hospital where the duty doctor declared one of them dead.
Md Abdur Razzak, Officer-in-charge of Boalkhali Police Station, confirmed the matter to the media saying that there were six passengers including the driver in the auto-rickshaw.
The driver of the killer bus was detained over the accident, the OC said.
