The committee prepared the report after talking to the security guards of the market, businessmen, shop owners, employees and eyewitnesses. DSCC spokesperson Abu Naser confirmed the matter to the media on Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, the Bangabazar fire site is being prepared to allow the affected businessmen to set up shop for starting new business. Under the supervision of Dhaka South City Corporation Chief Engineer Saleh Ahmed, with the full cooperation of the inquiry committee formed by the corporation, under the leadership of Zone-1 Regional Executive Engineer Mithun Chandra Sheel, the fire scene is being prepared for the traders. Earlier on 4th April, a horrible gigantic fire broke out at the Bangabazar Market in the capital, which spread to nearby markets, burning almost all the shops that mainly sell readymade clothes and footwear, to ashes.
The fire service had declared the Bangabazar apparel market “highly risky” in terms of fire safety on 1 April 2019. Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence, and Dhaka South City Corporation have formed two separate investigation committees over the massive fire at Bangabazar market.
