Staff Reporter :

“The traders of the Bangabazar have lost many lakhs of taka in the Tuesday’s devastating fire. The government has announced to provide each of the affected traders with only Tk15,000. It is absolutely inadequate. The government merely makes mockery with such a poor allocation,” Mirza Abbas said while visiting the market on Wednesday.
The BNP leader said that there were shop employees alongside the affected businessmen who also should be given the compensation.
“We think this compensation for the victim should be adequate. Besides, the employees of the gutted shops should also be given the compensation accordingly as they also affected before the Eid,” the BNP leader said.
Mirza Abbas, a former mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation, said that he had got shocked seeing the trail of devastation of the fire. “All the shops were burnt to ashes. How can traders overcome this loss? It is totally irreparable,” he said.
