HC issues rule to include ‘Joy Bangabandhu’ in national slogan

Staff Reporter :
The High Court on Monday issued a rule upon the conerned bodies of the government to explain as to why they should not be directed to amend the gazette to include ‘Joy Bangabandhu’ with the national slogan, Joy Bangla.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice KM Kamrul Kader and Justice Khizir Hayat passed the order after hearing a writ petition
filed in this connection by 13 SC lawyers including Advocate Abdullah Al Harun Bhuiyan.
Cabinet Secretary, Law Secretary, and Education Secretary have been asked to comply with the rule within four weeks.
“People used to chant the slogan Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu, together during our War of Liberation. Our country became independent with that same spirit. These two are not separate, these are the part of same single slogan,” Advocate Abdullah Al Harun Bhuiyan told the reporters.
Earlier on March 2, 2022, the government had issued a gazette notification, declaring ‘Joy Bangla’ as the country’s national slogan.
