Metro rail on service: Tk 1.13cr losses in three months

Since the first day of ply, the metro rail has calculated Tk1.13 crore losses in three month.
On the other hand, the authority has announced new schedule as the metro rail service will be operated from 8am to 2pm from April 5. The metro rail services are
currently available from 8:30am to 12:30pm.
MAN Siddique, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL), informed this at a press conference at DMTCL office on Thursday.
The Metro rail is being operated from Diabari to Agargaon by transporting the 11.73 km as part of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-6 since 28 December.
About 10.77 lakh passengers have travelled during this time where DMTCL have earned Tk6.20 crore. In the same time DMTCL has outlaid Tk7.33 crore.
About Tk1.13 crore losses in three month, according to the DMTCL statistics. DMTCL has spent most of the outlaid money to pay electric bill.
The two new metro rail stations -Uttara South and Shewrapara–will be open to public from Friday, he added.
At first, metro trains were operated between Uttara and Agargaon without any stoppages. The authorities opened five other stations gradually.
Performance test on viaduct from Agargaon to Motijheel will start from July.
