Man sentence to death for killing wife in Kishoreganj

A tribunal in Kishoreganj on Thursday afternoon has sentenced to death for killing his wife in Kishoreganj sadar around 3 years ago.
 The convicted, Chan Mia (55), son of Amir Ali, Purbo Bharori village in Boulai union in Kishoreganj sadar.
The Special Judge (District Judge) of Women and Child Torture Prevention Tribunal –1,Kishorganj, Mohammad Habibullah announced the verdict on Thursday afternoon.. The accused was present in the court when the verdict was announced.
According to the Case Diary (CD) Chan Mia was torturing his wife named Josna Begum (48) several times for dowry. On February 23, 2020, Josna Begum, her elder sister Anwara Begum (55) and elder brother Dulal’s wife Josna (45) were going from their father’s house to a relative’s house in an autorickshaw. Meanwhile, Chan Mia cut Josna Begum with a sharp knife and injured her.
Victim Josna Begum ran to save her life and fell down in the yard of one Wazed Mia’s house. He died there. At that time, Josma Begum’s elder sister and sister-in-law screamed when people came running, the accused Chan Mia ran away. Alal Mia, the younger brother of the deceased filed a case at Kishoreganj Model Police Station. The court sentenced Chan Mia to death as the charges were proved.
Special PP Advocate MA Afzal, for the Prevention of Torture against Women and Children Tribunal, confirmed the verdict.
