Two detained with 21 drums of Jatka

Police seized 21 drums of jatka (hilsa fry) in a pickup truck in a raid on Rahmatpur Bridge area of Dhaka-Barishal highway on Saturday (March 18) afternoon on its way from Barishal to Dhaka. Two people Sadhan Sardar and Abdur Rahman Rimon were detained at this time.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Barishal Airport Police Station Helaluddin said a raid was conducted in the area after receiving secret information that a large quantity of Jatka was being taken from Barishal to Dhaka for sale. Then a pickup van was searched and 21 drums of Jatka were seized during the operation and the pickup van driver and his accomplice were arrested. OC Helaluddin said that the police are preparing to file a case against the detained two and decision will be taken later on the Jatkas with the help of the Fisheries Office.
