First Division Women’s Chess League will begin from Wednesday (March 22) at Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) hall room, said a press release.
The league will be played in round robin league format. Twelve teams have been invited to participate in the league. The teams are – defending champions Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Police, Titas Club, Uttara Central Chess Club, Rupali Bank Krira Parishad, Basir Memorial Chess Club, Sheikh Russell Chess Club, Shahin Chess Club, Sonali Bank Sports and Recreation Club, Sultana Kamal Smriti Pathagar, Team Barisal and Basir Memorial Chess Academy.
This is an int’l rating chess competition and cash prize of 50,000 (champions team Taka 25,000, runners-up team Taka 15,000 and the third-place finishers Taka 10,000) will be given to the top three teams, organized by BCF.
The inauguration ceremony of the league will be held on Monday (March 20), two days before the start of the league.
In this regard, a press conference was held on Saturday at conference room of BCF to provide all the details of the meet. Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC Senior Executive Director FM Iqbal Bin Anower (Dawn), BCF’s Joint Secretary Masudur Rahman Mallick and International Chess Arbiter Md. Haroon Or Rashid, among others, also spoke at the press conference.
