Plastic waste management sector wants tax exemption for 10 years

The entrepreneurs of the plastic wastage management sector on Tuesday demanded tax exemption for ten years to flourish the sector in the country.
Shamim Ahmed, President of the Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BPGMEA) came up with the call in a pre-budget discussion with the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem at the latter’s office in the city.
Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Bangladesh Frozen Food Exporters Association, Bangladesh Furniture Exporters Association, Furniture Industry Owners Association, and Bangladesh Society for the Change Advocacy Nexus took part in the discussion.
The other demands of the BPGMEA are withdrawal advance income tax, 10 per cent corporate tax for all export-oriented firms and VAT exemption on plastic toys.
Besides, the NBR also held another meeting with E-CAB, Bangladesh Acid Manufacturer Association, Bangladesh Paint Manufacturer Association, Bangladesh Bred, Biscuit and Confectionary Manufacturer Association, and Bangladesh Flexible Packaging Industries Association.
 In the meeting, E-CAB proposed for withdrawal of VAT on fare of office, warehouse, fulfillment centre and sorting centre of the E-commerce companies.
The other demands of it are reducing VAT to 5 per cent from 15 per cent on delivery charge, and tax exemption for ten year for e-commerce firms.
Bangladesh Society for the Change Advocacy Nexus proposed for increasing tax-free income limit to Tk 6 lakh from the existing Tk4.5 lakh for disable people considering the current inflation situation.
Bangladesh Furniture Exporters Association demanded bonded warehouse facility for partial exporters, withdrawal of  
regulatory duty and supplementary duty on importing raw materials
While the BFFEA proposed for reducing source tax to 0.25 per cent from the existing 1 per cent for exporting shrimp and other frozen fishes and advance income tax exemption. The exporters are currently paying 10 per cent AIT for it.
On the other hand, Bangladesh Solar and Renewable Energy Association proposed for withdrawal of different taxes on importing solar inverter, panel mounting, UB protective DC, street light and solar pump.
