Yeafesh visits collapsed portion of under-construction building in Savar

Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman on Saturday visited the collapsed portion of the under-construction 12-storey building of the Atomic Energy Research Establishment in Dhaka’s Savar.
“Negligence of the contractor concerned was found over the roof collapse of the under-construction building of the cancer hospital under the Atomic Energy Commission,” the minister told the newsmen after visiting the construction site.
Yeafesh Osman said, “The authority concerned will look into the matter to identify the people who are responsible for negligence as roof of the under-construction 12-storey building collapsed.”
He said that instructions have been given to form an investigation committee to this end, reports BSS.
“We have taken adequate measures for treatment of the injured people at the hospitals,” he added.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology Ziaul Hasan and Directorate General of Atomic Energy Research Establishment (AERE) Dr Debashish Paul, among others, accompanied the minister during the visit.
At least 16 workers were injured as the roof of an under-construction 12-storey building of the Atomic Energy Research Establishment collapsed in Dhaka’s Savar on Friday afternoon.
