BD make flying start in AFC U-20 Women’s Qualifiers

Bangladesh Under-20 Women’s Football team made a flying start in the Group-H of the AFC Under-20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers defeating Turkmenistan Under-20 Women’s Football team by four goals to nil in their first match at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur on Friday.
Bangladesh led the first half 1-0.
Aklima Khatun of Bangladesh put her team ahead by a left-footer in the injury time of the first half.
Aklima Khatun made it 2-0 by a placing shot using a long-range cross of her teammate Eti Khatun in the 71st minute of the match.
Shawpna Rani increased the tally into 3-0 by a header using a cross of her teammate Eti Rani in the 80th minute of the game.
After two minutes Shawpna Rani sealed the fate of the match by forceful shot (4-0).
Earlier, Aklima Khatun came close to score in the 20th minute of the match.
Shaheda Akter missed an opportunity in the 35th minute of the game.
Turkmenistan got only one chance in the 37th minute of the clash. But Taganova’s shot was saved by Bangladesh goalie Rupna Chakma.
Turkmenistan lost to Iran by 7-1 goals in their first match at the same venue. They bade the Qualifiers Good-bye.
Bangladesh will face Iran in their last Group-H match tomorrow at the same venue. The result of that match will decide which team will play in the final round.
