BNP leader Nirob reportedly picked up by police

Former President of Jatoyatabadi Jubo Dal, also member of the Central Executive Committee of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Saiful Alam Nirob has reportedly been picked up by police from the city’s Tejgaon area on Saturday afternoon.
According to some senior leaders of the party, police took him to the Tejgaon Industrial Police Station at 3:30 pm.
Eyewitness BNP leaders and activists said Nirob was taken away by police during the preparations for the party’s pre-scheduled march programme on Saturday.
Jubo Dal leader Aminul Islam said police took away Saiful Alam Nirob completely illegally. He condemned and protested for taking him in such a manner.
Meanwhile, the leaders and activists of Tejgaon Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal, Swechchaswebak Dal and other organizations took out a march to protest the arrest of Nirob.
When contacted Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station, he confirmed the arrest of BNP leader to this correspondent.
