Two killed, three injured in Jatrabari road crash

Two persons were killed and three others, including two policemen, injured as a speedy pick-up van ran them over in Rayerbag area of Jatrabari in the capital Friday morning.
The deceased were —Akbar Hossain, 40, a driver of CNG-run auto rickshaw, and Hasan, 30.
Officer-In-Charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station Mofizul Alam said the accident occurred under the footover bridge in Rayerbag area of Jatrabari in the capital around 6.30am on Friday.
The pedestrians were standing beside the road when suddenly a speedy pick-up ran them over from behind, leaving Akbar dead on the spot and four others, including two police personnel injured.
The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital
(DMCH) where Hasan succumbed to his injuries.
He said police detained the driver and helper of the van. The detail of the identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
The bodies have been kept at the DMCH morgue.
