Bangladesh-Argentina signed three MoUs

Bangladesh and Argentina on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on visa exemption for diplomatic and official passports, ushering a new horizon for expanding the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Apart from this, another MoU was signed on football related matters for the training of Bangladeshi footballers there and the last one is a MoU for academy to academy cooperation.
The MoUs were signed in presence of Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and his Argentine counterpart Santiago Cafiero at the State Guest House Jamuna in the capital. About the opening of the Argentine Mission in Dhaka, Dr Momen said, “Soon after the liberation of Bangladesh, the then Argentine government opened their Embassy in Dhaka. Today they have reopened it after 45 years. It is a great benefit for us.”
Recalling the old ties with Argentina, he said, “Our relationship with Argentine is very old -even during the War of Independence. With the support of Latin American intellectuals, Argentine writer Ocampo waged a movement there for supporting the cause of the independence of Bangladesh.”
He also said, that Argentina always stood with Bangladesh side in the UN and it helped Bangladesh to achieve many things.
About the trade between the two countries, he said, “The trade volume between the two countries is low.
