Green Textile emerges as global leader among LEED-certified factories

Green Textile Limited unit 4, a joint concern of Epic Group and Envoy Legacy in Mymensingh, is now the global leader among the LEED-certified factories, which an Indonesian garment factory earlier held with 101 points out of 110.
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) on Sunday disclosed the information after the US Green Building Council (USGBC) issued the LEED platinum certification to the factory on 21 February.
Platinum is the LEED programme’s highest certification level, followed by gold, silver and certified.
The fourth category for industrial units is for just meeting minimum requirements.
Bangladesh now has a total of 188 green garment factories –64 platinum rated, 110 gold, 10 silver and four LEED certified, according to BGMEA.
