5 killed as bus hits CNG-run autorickshaw in Bogura

Five passengers were killed when a passenger bus hit a CNG-run autorickshaw on Sujabad 2nd bypass road area under Shajahanpur upazila of the district on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as CNG driver Hazrat Ali,35, son of Abdul Gani, resident of Kadamtali Sakidarpara area of Gabtali upazila, Golam Rabbani Badsha,60, resident of Sardarpara area of Marger Bari under Dhunat upazila, Shahana Aktar,30, and her daughter age about 10, residents of Karaihata area of Gabtali upazila.
The identity of another passenger could not be known immediately.
The accident occurred, when the CNG-run auto rickshaw was going to Bagbari from Banani, at that time, a Dhaka-bound bus from Gaibandha collided head-on with the CNG coming from the opposite direction while crossing the road in the area around 12.30pm, leaving four passengers of the CNG dead on the spot and another child injured, officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shajahanpur Police Station Abdul Quader Jilani said.
The injured was taken to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital, where the child succumbed to her injuries, the OC said.
Police seized the bus but its driver and helper managed to escape.
The bodies were handed over to their relatives, the OC added.
