Mirza Fakhrul admitted to hospital again

Secretary General of the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been urgently admitted to a city hospital in Gulshan.
According to BNP media wing, Fakhrul was at the BNP chairperson’s office in Gulshan at the time when he was felt sick around 12 noon on Monday.
When the BNP Secretary General started feeling sick and he was rushed to the United Hospital immediately for treatment.
“He fell ill in the party chairperson’s office at noon, now he is admitted to the United Hospital and is undergoing treatment under Professor Dr Momin Zaman,” BNP media Wings member Sharul Kabir Khan told this correspondent.
Fakhrul sought the prayers of the country’s people for a speedy recovery.
Earlier on February 16, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir returned from Singapore after receiving medical treatment there for a week.
On February 10, Fakhrul and his wife went to Singapore for a follow-up health checkup and treatment. The 76-year-old BNP Secretary General received treatment at Singapore National University Hospital.
In 2015, while incarcerated, Fakhrul was diagnosed with a block in the internal carotid artery of his neck.
After his release, he went to Singapore for treatment. Since then, he needs to go to Singapore every year for follow-up treatment.
