Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team will take on South Africa Women’s Cricket team in their last Group-1 match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup (WC) at Cape Town in South Africa today. The match will start at 11.00pm (Bangladesh Standard Time).
Earlier, Bangladesh had a sorrow start in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup campaign as they lost to Sri Lanka by seven wickets in their first Group-1 match at Cape Town on February 12.
Sobhana Mostary of Bangladesh notched up the team’s highest of 29 from 32 deliveries hitting five fours, while Captain Nigar Sultana hit a notable 28 from 34 balls including one four. Shamima Sultana made 20 from 13 balls with four fours.
Medium pacer Marufa Akter grabbed three wickets in the space of 23 runs.
Bangladesh were beaten by stronger Australia by eight wickets in their second Group-1 match at Saint George’s Oval on February 14.
Nigar Sultana played a captain’s knock of 57. Her 50-ball innings was laced with seven fours and a sixer. She restored some parity for her country.
Later, Shorna Akter and Marufa Akter took one wicket each for 12 and 19 runs respectively.
Bangladesh suffered a 71-run defeat to New Zealand in their third Group-1 match at Cape Town on February 17.
Shorna Akter hit 31 using 22 deliveries featuring four fours, while Murshida Khatun made 30 from 38 balls including three fours.
Fahima Khatun bagged a pair of wickets in the space of 36 runs, while Shorna Akter took one wicket for 12 runs.
