Ansar & VDP retain Nat’l Women’s Handball title

Bangladesh Ansar & VDP retained the title of the EXIM Bank 34th National Women’s Handball competition beating Panchagarh District Sports Association (DSA) by 30-19 goals in the final match on Monday at Shamsul Huda Stadium in Jashore.
The winners’ led the first half by 18-11 goals.
Alpona Aktar of Bangladesh Ansar & VDP was adjudged the Best Player of the Final.
Earlier, on way to the final, Bangladesh Ansar beat Police Handball Club by 27-3 goals after leading the first half by 10-2 goals in the first semifinal while Panchagarh DSA defeated Madaripur DSA by 32-10 goals after dominating the first half by 20-6 goals in the second semis.
Besides, Bangladesh Police Handball Club finished at third position in the competition defeating Madaripur DSA by 20-5 goals after dominating the first half by 10-3 goals in the place-deciding encounter.
State Minister for the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharjee, MP, was the chief guest in the final and distributed the prizes.
Bangladesh Handball Federation’s (BHF) general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor was present there as the special guest.
Jashore’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (general, development and human resource management) Md. Rofiqul Hasan presided over the prize-distribution ceremony.
Jashore DSA’s general secretary valiant freedom fighter Yeakub Kabir, BHF’s vice president and convener of the competition steering committee Md. Nuruul Islam, BHF’s assistant general secretary and competition steering committee’s member secretary Md. Salahuddin Ahmed and BHF’s treasurer Md. Jahangir Hossain, were among others, present in the prize-distribution ceremony.
