Complaints about e-commerce is mounting: Commerce Minister

E-commerce is dealing with numerous issues along with huge complaints from the consumers’ end which really needs to be addressed; Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said this during the launching ceremony of e-commerce complaint management system on Sunday.
‘There were so many calls and meetings that we couldn’t sleep at night’, Commerce Minister said after addressing the mounting complaints regarding e-commerce on the same program.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi formally inaugurated the Central Complain Management System (CCMS) platform as the chief guest at his ministry on yesterday.
Given the current context, the CCMS is necessary to prevent consumers from being cheated and harmed, and the main focus of this platform is to allowing e-commerce customers to seek a solution to their complaints, the minister added.
Tipu noted that with the launching of CCMS platform, all concerned stakeholders would now get the benefits of e-commerce.
“This platform will act as a bridge among the consumers, regulators and the e-commerce stakeholders,” he added.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak attended the event as a special guest.
Commerce Ministry Additional Secretary Hafizur Rahman, Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) AHM Shafiquzzaman, and E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (E-Cab) President Shami Kaiser also spoke at the programme.
