109 die from cold-related diseases in three months

Cold-related diseases like as Pneumonia, Diarrhea, respiratory related diseases have raised across the country. About 109 died from cold-related diseases from November 14, 2022 to February 18, 2023. Of them 106 died from Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) and three from Diarrhoea, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
DGHS’s Management Information System department’s health emergency operation centre and control room informed it on Saturday.
DGHS said from November 14, 2022 to February 18, 2023 about 84,609
 infected from respiratory infection related diseases across the country. Of them 106 died from the diseases.
On the other hand, about 4, 05, 331 were infected from cold-related diarrhoea where three have died.
Besides, about 683 admitted to hospitals after being infected from ARI and 496 admitted to hospitals as infected from Diarrhea.
According to International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh, about 24,300 children under five years of age die of pneumonia in Bangladesh every year. According to that, 67 die every day pneumonia among children under five years of age. 52 percent of these children died at home without receiving any treatment.
