Najmul Hossain Shanto Player of the Tournament of BPL

Opener Najmul Hossain Shanto of Sylhet Strikers was adjudged the Player of the Tournament of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket. Though his team Sylhet Strikers lost to Comilla Victorians in the final of the BPL by seven wickets, Shanto played a splendid innings in the final on Thursday last. Sylhet Strikers became runners-up of the ninth edition of BPL Cricket. Shato was awarded Tk 10 lakh for his superb performance in the outgoing BPL Cricket. Shato struck a terrific 64. His 45-ball innings was studded with nine fours and a sixer. He reached the 50-run land mark utilising 38 deliveries hitting seven fours.
Shanto played 15 matches for Sylhet Strikers in BPL Cricket 2023. He played 15 innings and scored the highest runs in the ninth edition of BPL Cricket. He scored 516 runs with an average of 39.67. His highest score was 89 (not out) in this year’s BPL Cricket. He hit four half-centuries in the outgoing BPL Cricket. His strike rate was 116.74. He is the second batter in BPL Cricket who scored above 500 runs. Shanto hit 57 fours in this year’s BPL Cricket. He also struck 12 sixers in the BPL 2023. After the gala final of the ninth edition of BPL Cricket, Shato said during the prize-distribution ceremony, ” Our team played well but it was not our day. We played well all through the tournament. I tried my best to score in every match and luck favoured me that I performed well in this tournament.”
