Bangladesh Under-20 Women’s Football team will face Nepal Under-20 Women’s Football team in the final of the SAFF Under-20 Women’s Championship at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur today. The match will kick-off at 6.00pm.
All the previous matches were held at the same venue.
Unbeaten Bangladesh gained seven points from three matches, while Nepal collected six points from as many matches.
On way to final, Bangladesh defeated Nepal by 3-1 goals in their first match on February 3.
Bangladesh played a goalless draw with favourites India in their second match on February 5.
Bangladesh crushed Bhutan by five goals to nil on February 7.
On the other hand, Nepal thrashed Bhutan by four goals to nil on February 5.
Nepal came from behind and earned a 3-1 goals victory over India on February 7.
Before today’s final, a press conference was held at the conference room in Bangladesh Football Federation House on Wednesday.
Head Coach of Bangladesh Women’s Football team Golam Rabbani Choton said, ” Nepal are strong side because they defeated stronger India. We are also strong. I hope the final will be an entertaining match.”
Captain of Bangladesh Under-20 Women’s Football team Shamsunnahar Junior said, ” If I get chance, I shall try to score. If I see that my teammates are in a good position, I shall assist them to score against Nepal.”
Shamsunnahar Junior scored against Nepal and Bhutan. She scored a hat-trick against Bhutan.
Head Coach of Nepal Under-20 Women’s Football team Yam Gurung said, ” We want to take sweet revenge after defeating Bangladesh team in the final. We conceded defeat in the league phase. We are confident. We are not under pressure. I know the weakness of Bangladesh team. But I shall not disclose it now.”
Captain of Nepal Under-20 Women’s Football team Preeti Rai said, ” I hope the final will be competitive. We are confident that we shall be the champions in the competition. I hope we shall get good result as we work hard.”
