BD take on Nepal in SAFF U-20 Women’s Champ today

Bangladesh Under-20 Women’s Football team will take on Nepal Under-20 Women’s Football team in their first match of the SAFF Under-20 Women’s Championship at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Shipahi Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur today. The match will kick-off at 7.00pm.
Defending champions India Under-20 Women’s Football team will face Bhutan Under-20 Football team in the inaugural match at the same venue at 3.00pm.
The members of Bangladesh Under-20 Football team took part in their practice session at the match venue on Thursday.
Meanwhile, India Under-20 Women’s Football team, Nepal Under-20 Women’s Football team and Bhutan Under-20 Women’s Football team are now staying in Dhaka to compete in the football competition.
Bangladesh Women’s Football team emerged the champions in the SAFF Women’s Championship in last September in Nepal.
The other participating three teams of the SAFF Under-20 Women’s Championship have accepted that the hosts are the favourites of this tournament.
Last year in October, All India Football Federation arranged the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup. As India team were the host of the tournament, they presented a better brand of football. A total of 10 footballers from that team have been included in this squad. India have taken this tournament as the preparation of AFC Under-20 Qualifiers. Coach of India Under-20 Women’s Football team Maymol Rocky said, ” We want to be prepared for AFC Under-20 Qualifiers after competing this football meet. Bangladesh are good side. The spectators are the 12th man of the hosts.”
Meanwhile, Captain of Bangladesh Under-20 Women’s Football team Shamsunnahar Junior said, ” We want that the people of Bangladesh will keep us in their prayers. We want to be the champions of this tournament after showing a better brand of display of football.”
Head Coach of Bangladesh Under-20 Women’s Football team Golam Rabbani Choton said, ” We have taken a good preparation for this tournament. India and Nepal are strong opponents. We want to start our campaign with victory.”
Bangladesh will meet India in their second match on February 5. Bangladesh will face Bhutan in their third match on February 7.
The prestigious football competition will be held in single league basis. Top two teams will get tickets of the final. The final will take place on February 9.
