Head Coach of Bangladesh Women’s Football team Golam Rabbani Choton said, ” We want to play in the final of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-20 Championship. Then, we want to clinch the title of the SAFF Under-20 Championship.”
Golam Rabbani Choton spoke to this Reporter during the practice session of the Bangladesh Women’s Under-20 Football team at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Shipahi Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur on Wednesday.
Choton said, ” India and Nepal are good sides. They are strong opponents. Bangladesh, India, Nepal have almost same strength. All the three teams have capability to win the championship trophy. We want to display competitive football against our opponents.”
He said, ” My girls are in good shape. All of them are well. I am giving priority to my girls’ fitness. They are physically very fit. There is no injury problem in my team. We have started our practice from January 1. After ending the Women’s Football League we have began practice from first day of January.”
” Our key players are Shamsunnahar Junior, Ripa, Aklima, Rupna Chakma. Shamsunnahar Junior played in the recently concluded SAFF Women’s Championship. Bangladesh emerged the champions in the SAFF Women’s Championship. Shamsunnahara showed an eye-catching performance in that tournament. She played a vital role to clinch the title of the SAFF Women’s Championship, the most prestigious football competition for the women’s of South Asian Region. Aklima scored 25 goals in the recently concluded Women’s Football League. Besides, Rupna Chakma is the best goalkeeper of South Asian Region”, he added.
It may be mentioned that Bangladesh girls emerged the champions in SAFF Women’s Championship, which was held in last September in Nepal. After that, the girls of Bangladesh became runners-up in the SAFF Under-15 Women’s Championship in last November in Dhaka.  
A total of four teams will take part in the SAFF Under-20 Women’s Championship. They are: Reigning champions India, defending runners-up Bangladesh and Nepal and Bhutan. The prestigious football competition will be held in Kamalapur from February 3 to February 9.
The gala football meet will be held in single league basis. Top two teams will play in the final. The final will be held on February 9.
