Sharmeen Akhee’s condition critical; 35pc burns affected her respiratory tract; celebs come to her aid

Popular face of the small screen and OTT platform, Sharmeen Akhee
suffered burn injuries in an explosion in the bathroom of a shooting spot in the capital’s Mirpur area at around 2:00pm yesterday. The explosion occurred from electrical sparks in the bathroom of a makeup room leaving her seriously injured.
The actress was first taken to Islamia hospital and later shifted to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery around 6:45pm. She is currently receiving treatment at the hospital, said Dr Samanta Lal Sen, Chief Coordinator of the Burn Institute.
Dr Sen said that Akhee’s condition was critical as her respiratory tract was affected with 35 per cent burns. Doctors are treating her with utmost importance. Sharmeen Akhee’s husband Rahat Kabir told media that the shooting spot was new. The makeup room and the bathroom were adjacent. When the explosion took place, the door of the bathroom broke down.
Akhee’s family said the explosion may occur from gas created in the bathroom. Sharmeen Akhee is the daughter of Shahabuddin of Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali.
Meanwhile, celebrities have come forward to help the actress recover soon. However, Akhee needs four bags of B+ blood for her treatment.
Celebrities like Mehazabien Chowdhury, Ziaul Faruq Apurba, Pori Moni, Ashna Habib Bhabna, Dilruba Hossain Doyel, Nawshaba Ahmed, Nirab Hossain have all requested for B+ blood on their social media. Sharmeen Akhee acted in several projects like ‘Boli,’ ‘Batasher Lal Phool,’ ‘Chandragrasta,’ ‘Shevulotion,’ among others.
